NECESSARY MATERIAL FOR MAKING BOBBIN LACE

TRADITIONAL SPANISH PILLOW (easy and economic method)

PINCUSHION

BAG FOR THREADS and bobbins. Make a small bag where you can keep the remaining bobbins, the pairs you don't need but you will need later, scissors, thread, etc. The size of your bobbins can indicate you the size of the bag.

BOBBIN KEEPER

COVER. Cut a piece of cloth a bit bigger than the size of your pillow to cover your work and protect it from dust, etc.

BAND (BETTER ELASTIC) TO KEEP THE BOBBINS IN PLACE. It is necessary to tie the bobbins to the pillow with an elastic band (if it is wide, it is better) when we carry the pillow somewhere or just when we leave it on a chair... In case of an accidental fall of the pillow, the bobbins and the thread will stay in its place.

2 or 3 DOZENS BOBBINS

A BOX OF PINS: It is better to use long and fine pins of good quality stainless steel, to prevent them from bending, breaking and rusting.

COTTON OR LINEN THREAD. The best thread to make bobbin lace is linen. In Spain it is difficult to find nowadays, as it is not cultivated any more. That's why cotton is the most used thread here. We must always buy the best quality cotton and with a medium twisting.
