Mariscal Chuikov, Vassili Ivanovitch

 

(1899) - (1960). He was Marshall of the Soviet Union. Born in the year 1899 in peasant's family. He worked like industrial worker before to entry at the Red Army and he fought from 1917 to the white forces. From 1921, he realized studies in the school of General staff. Later, he is nominated a military Soviet attaché in Chiang-Kai-Chek's China, to return to his country with the beginning of the war. In 1942, giving the orders an army, he must support Stalingrad's front and to avoid the total occupation of the city from the Germans.

His action will be decisive for the obtaining of the final victory on the part of the Soviet ones. In 1944, he led some of the Zhukov's armies that go on Berlin. He will be who receives the surrender of the Reich's Capital. Once finished the war, Chuikov is, successively, a governor of the German region of Turingia and promoted to the generalship. For five years it was the maximum responsible for the Soviet zone of occupation that should transform in German Democratic Republic. Raised Marshall's range in 1955, until 1960 occupied the put military maximum in the region of Kiev.
