(1885) - (1971). He was one of
the principal members of the German expedition that directed the troops
to the Russian territory. At the head of the III Armoured group, his
intention was to reach the group of panzers that was directing Guderian
in Minsk. Though to the beginning of this campaign they managed to
avoid the Soviet assault and to continue advancing towards Moscow,
the way was complicated increasingly. His troops remained without
forces to twenty kilometres of the capital, acting deceitfully before
the Red Army. This reverse supposed Guderian's retreat, though Hoth
was kept in the army for Hitler's desire.
Hoth lead the IV armoured Army,
when he planned his entry in Stalingrad during the rescue mission
of Manstein. He returned to fail to the being surrounded by the Soviet
ones. In 1943 Hitler suspended him.
During the battle of Stalingrad
was leading the IV Panzer Army.
