(1895) - (1945). Engineer of
profession experienced a shining military career. Between 1939 and
1942 he was nominated a commander in chief of the VIII Aviation Army.
One year later he acceded to the IV Air Corp of East as commander
in chief. In 1943 he is elected Field Marshall, putting at the head
of the II Air Corp in Italy as commander in Chief.
He was cousin of the famous "red
baron" (Manfred von Richthofen) to whose squadron had joined
in 1917. He had ordered The Condor Legion in Spain and was the direct
person in charge of the destruction of Guernica in 1937. Others of
his "achievements" it was the Belgrade's bombardment in
April 1941 that killed 17.000. During the Crete invasion, the aviation
supervised by Richthofen reduced to rubbles the Venetian architecture
of The Canea and Heraklion.
During the battle of Stalingrad
he was leading the IV Air Corps.
