Brath: character from Celtic Mythology. He came from the northern countries and died conquering Iberia. Breogan, his son, who was the father of the Galician Country according to this mythology, finished his work.

The folk music band Brath was formed in 1981, when several musicians from Lugo _interested in Celtic and Galician sounds from bands like Gwendall, Milladoiro, Emilio Cao and others_ decided to create a music based essentially upon traditional folk, but with harmonic and rhythmic structures richer and more complex, some of them from abroad. So the purely instrumental themes got a style that was later named as "música de fusión" (merged music).They used as many instruments such as bagpipes, flutes, the tin-whistle, the violin, the accordion, keyboards, the guitar and the lute. They also incorporated the electric bass and drums in Galician Folk Music.

The band changed line-up several times. At first they were:

Faustino C.Muinelo, playing bagpipes, arrived later. This line-up formed the longest stage in the band's history.

Other members were: Adolfo Alonso,Fito; Javier; María Marzoa; Cándido Díaz; Ánxeles Nogueira; Víctor F. Gabeiras; Juan Parga; Pepe Vaamonde and Aquilino Jacob, who was incorporated after the death of Pedro Prósper.

From its foundation until 1997, Brath played its music not just around Galicia, but in places as the Teatro Real de Madrid, Manuel de Falla auditorium in Granada, Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo, Montjuich's auditorium in Barcelona and the Expo 92 in Sevilla. They also played abroad in Brazil, Argentina, Portugal and in the Interceltic Festival in Lorient (France).
