Me he enterado por los medios de comunicación que en septiembre 2007, en la Bienal de Arte Costarricense (Bienarte) el jurado escogió a Guillermos Vargas,  como uno de los seis artistas que representará a su país en la Bienal Centroamericana de Honduras 2008. A pesar de que un mes antes, el señor Vargas había maltratado a un ser vivo para poder realizar su obra.

Estimados señores sponsors de esta Bienal que se llevará a cabo en  Honduras, solicitamos a Uds. cortésmente que siendo personas decentes que llevan adelante organizaciones serias y de bien, como son el Banco Promerica de Honduras,  la Fundación Ortiz Gurdían de Nicaragua  y el Centro Cultural España en Tegucigalpa,  desistan de apoyar este desafortunado evento. De otra manera su imagen se verá desprestigiada junto a esta nefasta Bienal conformada por quienes encubren lo que en cualquier país civilizado está tipificado como delito, llamándolo obra de arte.

Aprovecho para solicitar al respetable Gobierno de Honduras que siga de cerca este caso  ya que denigra la imagen de su país.

I ask you respectfully to stop supporting this unfortunate event.  As sponsors of the Bienal, that will take place in Honduras, you are morally decent persons who are in charge of serious Organizations such as the Promerica Bank of Honduras, the Ortiz Guardin Foundation in Nicaragua, and the Spanish Cultural Center in Tegucigalpa. By supporting this event, the image of your Organizations will become tarnished together with the ominous Bienal by aligning yourself with those who covered up these actions of animal cruelty that are considered illegal in any civilized country. This cannot be called art.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask the Government of Honduras to follow this case closely since it has given your country a negative image.
