PROYECTO Este modelo forma parte de un futuro diorama sobre la batalla del Mar del Coral que intentará representar algunos de los barcos de la fuerza naval japonesa de apoyo a la invasión de Port Moresby, junto al crucero pesado Aoba y el portaaviones ligero Shoho (Galería). Por lo que he podido averiguar, actualmente no existe en el mercado un modelo propio para este destructor japonés, pero afortunadamente sí lo hay de otro destructor de la misma clase y prácticamente idéntico: el Fubuki de Tamiya a escala 1/700 (1). Para construir el Sazanami del año 42 partiremos, pues, de esta otra maqueta a la que haremos algunas correcciones y modificaciones con ayuda del juego de mejora número 5 de Pit-Road para destructores japoneses (2). Los primeros barcos construidos de la Clase Fubuki montaban originalmente tres torres artilleras dobles de 5 pulgadas (12'7 cms.) Modelo A (3) cuya elevación máxima para repeler ataques aéreos era de 50°. Posteriormente fueron sustituidas por las del Modelo B, de diseño más moderno y con una elevación de 75° (4).También los tres sistemas triples de tubos lanzatorpedos de 24 pulgadas (61 cms.) fueron reemplazados por los del Tipo 92 del mismo calibre pero emplazadas en torres giratorias. En su momento decidiré si uso otras piezas de la caja de Pit-Road, como la artillería antiaérea, las lanchas salvavidas y sus repectivos pescantes o monto las incluidas en la maqueta. Aunque no estoy seguro de cual sería la apariencia exacta del Sazanami en el Mar del Coral, creo que, en general, no debió ser muy diferente a la de los buques de su misma clase Ayanami (5) y Amagiri (6). |
PROJECT This model is part of a future Coral Sea Battle diorama in which I will try to show some of the ships of the Japanese support force heading for Port Moresby invasion, including CA Aoba and CVL Shoho (Gallery). As far as I know, there is not a model for DD Sazanami in the market, but fortunately there is one for another destroyer of the same class and almost identical: Tamiya 1/700 Fubuki (1).I will also use the Pit-Road set for Japanese destroyers (2), which includes gun turrets, AA weapons, boats, davits, depth charge racks, radars, etc. The first ships in the Fubuki Class were equipped with three 5 inch twin turrets Model A (3) which could be raised 50° for AA fire. They were replaced later by the new Model B which had an elevation of 75° (4). The three original 24 inch triple torpedo tubes mounts were also replaced by Type 92 placed in rotating turrets. I will use Pit-Road Model B turrets, torpedo tubes and AA guns in the model and will decide later whether I also include boats and davits from this set. Although I am not very sure about the actual look of Sazanami at Coral Sea, I think that it was not very different from other ships of the same class such as Ayanami (5) and Amagiri (6).

PASO 2 - STEP 2

Para pintar el casco y la cubierta uso acrílicos de Tamiya. El gris del
casco (y de la mayor parte de las piezas) es una mezcla de XF53 Neutral
Grey 66% + XF63 German Grey 33%. El color linóleo de la cubierta se
obtiene con XF64 Red Brown 75% + XF7 Flat Red 25%. La línea de flotación
lleva una mezcla de XF9 Hull Red 90% + XF7 Flat Red 10%.
Comienzo pintando el color gris y luego añado los otros tonos de rojo tras un paciente enmascaramiento. _________ I use Tamiya acrylic paints for the hull and deck. The hull grey, which is also used in most parts of the ship, is a mixture of XF53 Neutral Grey 66% + XF63 German Grey 33%. I mix XF64 Red Brown 75% + XF7 Flat Red 25% to get the linoleum shade of the deck and XF9 Hull Red 90% + XF7 Flat Red 10% for the waterline red. I start with the grey color and then I go on with the red shades after having masked the ship carefully. |

La mayor parte de las piezas principales de la maqueta ya se han pintado
por separado (puente, chimeneas, tubos lanzatorpedos, etc.). Compruebo de
nuevo cómo quedan antes de pegarlos definitivamente. Este procedimiento de
"presentar" las piezas pintadas antes de pegarlas es muy importante, ya
que podemos evitar errores irreparables. En el caso del Sazanami,
es conveniente pegar los lanzadores de torpedos antes que las chimeneas
pues no encajan adecuadamente si lo hacemos a la inversa y además podemos
estropear la pintura.
