Hope for children in great need!

Where?
One of the places where children are in great need is La Breña a village where great poverty rules. This village is outside Huancayo, a city in Peru, South America.

How?
Starting for our pastoral work in the church "Casa de Oración" in Huancayo-Peru, we have seen the possibility of helping those children, which we have happily done since our first year together in Peru, continuing even after returning to the Netherlands. But it is truly said: in unity is more strength! Therefore we want you also to be happy to be able to give these children help; together we will always be stronger!

At this time, the children receive five healthy meals per week. We can tell you with complete satisfaction that the results can be greater if we receive more support for this children's club. Beyond the fact that those children receive 5 warm meals per week, one time per week a Bible club is held where the children are tought God's Word after supper. So they also receive something to eat that is a real meal.

Your support
If you have interest or questions about this work, you may always contact us.
We appreciate your support!

We heartilly thank all the people who have give money. Thank you for your support for the children.

Information letter

Dear friends of Niños Emanuel                                                               March 2008

This is the third month of the new year, a year which we have decided to turn into a year of faith. Standing on the promises of God. After all, the work done by Niños Emanuel is not our work but God’s, He will perform His will!

Yeni

Yeni is an 8-year-old girl. For years now she has faithfully attended the club at La Breña. 2Unfortunately Yeni has a problem: she has difficulty speaking and is slightly mentally retarded; she is a very quiet girl. We would love to help all those with problems attending the clubs, including Yeni.

We have explained her problem to another organisation here in5 Holland, which helps children like Yeni, again through Pan de Vida, headed by Aukje and Wilkin van de Kamp who are also active in Peru. We are happy to report to you that this organisation has decided to support Yeni financially. She is going to see a therapist three times a week who will hand her over to a psychologist, whenever necessary. It is obvious that her mother is very grateful.

The holidays are over

The summer holidays are over in Peru, which means that school 3supplies have been distributed again, which were welcomed with great enthusiasm, as you can imagine.

Chupaca was among those receiving supplies for the first time, which gave Flor the opportunity to explain the gospel to the parents  on the occasion of Easter (the parents have to collect the supplies for the children, you see). The result was that a number of mothers have given their lives to the Lord Jesus, isn’t this great news!!! As it is, mothers in La Breña and in Chupaca have now accepted Christ into their hearts because of the soup kitchens. It is good to know that we are not only helping the children but also the parents come into contact with the gospel.

So far this year, we have distributed a total of 89 school supplies.

What’s next once the children finish their secondary education?

Last time we told you about Aquime. On 3 March she took up her studies with great4 enthusiasm. She has now opted for a career as a cook. The money she received was specially donated for her sake through this news letter, thank you so much!

Somebody from the school has gone to visit Aquime at her home and they have concluded that her financial situation is dire. We had already agreed that we only had to pay half her tuition, and now they are going to see how they can help her even more, by allowing her to prepare meals for different occasions so she can earn some extra money, and the proceeds will go to her. Also, she has to pay for her own ingredients needed during her schooling, which she will do with the gift she has received, and every time she sells some food she will increase her private capital a little bit. The school she is attending is a Christian vocational school supported from England.

Evelyn

Evelyn is a girl from the Huancayo church, her mother has passed away, her father has not provided for his children for years now.

She is the oldest of 4 children, her youngest brother is still in grade school, and they are living with their grandmother who works very hard to provide for her grandchildren. Niños Emanuel have decided to support Evelyn in her studies and she has started her schooling to be a beautician, which will take one year.

Accommodation

As you know we have struck a deal for 3 years with the landlord i1n La Breña, where we are at now. Unfortunately the landlord is not honouring his side of the contract, and he wants us to leave at the end of this year. This kind of situation is not unusual in Peru, but nevertheless it is very unpleasant for us, because we have still not found a new building site, and once we find one we also have to finance the building. Please pray with us that we will soon find a solution. It is another opportunity to apply this year’s motto: Believe and trust for a favourable outcome in good time.

ANBI regulation

We want you to know that we have now achieved recognition as an ANBI organisation (ANBi stands for: Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling = which is an organisation for the benefit of the general public), which means that your gifts to us will continue to be tax-deductible.

In conclusion

Keep praying and believing with us that God will continue to do miracles among the children and their parents. If we are a blessing, we will be blessed by God. Thank you for your financial support and thank you for your prayers.

Together we are strong!

God’s blessings,
